The Master Basket Maker & Versatile Artist

Cheryl Dixon is a true artisan with creativity in her soul. Married, with two grown sons, two daughters-in-law, and six wonderful grandchildren, Cheryl’s life is a beautiful weave of family, art, and inspiration. Her artistic journey began early—carving and crafting with her first pocket knife, gifted by her father when she was a Girl Scout. Those early moments of whittling and working with her hands sparked a lifelong passion for creating.

Fast forward to today, Cheryl has been immersed in the art of basket making since 1985, and her enthusiasm hasn’t slowed down for a moment. Whether she’s crafting intricate baskets, creating stunning ceramics, or teaching others to bring their visions to life, Cheryl’s artistic versatility knows no bounds.

Her love for teaching and sharing her craft has made her a beloved instructor. From basket weaving to pottery looms, Cheryl finds joy in exploring new mediums and helping others unlock their creative potential. After retiring from Purdue University, she took the bold step of dedicating herself fully to her art—and hasn’t looked back.
